AN EVALUATION OF THE CHALLENGES AND PROSPECT IN BUDGETARY SYSTEM IN PUBLIC SERVICE IN NIGERIA

ABSTRACT: This study was carried out to examine challenges and prospect in budgetary system in public service in Nigeria  in federal ministry of education. Specifically, the study Analyze the effect of  effective budgetary on development of the ministry of education in Nigeria. The study also,  Find out the challenges and prospect of budgeting in the federal ministry of  education. Lastly, the study Proffer solution to the challenges of budgetary in the public sector. A total of 30 responses were validated from the survey. From the responses obtained and analyzed, the findings revealed that  Not using the right budgeting method is one of the challenges of budgetary in ministry of education. Also, dealing with deadlines and unpredictable changes is one of the challenges of budgetary in ministry of education. Finally, Monitoring and adjusting budget is another challenges of budgetary in ministry of education. The study hereby recommend That approved budgets should be religiously implemented without considering or accommodating the personal or selfish interests of different stakeholders in the political system.and also, That There is also the need to carry the people along during  budget preparation and implementation.
